Water Softeners (DIY)
Includes any products than can be described/observed as a device which is fixed in place to soften water from a connected water supply. These devices soften the water by reducing the calcium or magnesium ion concentration in hard water. The water is passed through an ion-exchange resin in which the ions causing the hardness trade places with sodium ions, these are then released into the water making it much softer.
Excludes: Specifically excludes household preparations that are used to soften hard water. Excludes products such as Water Softener Replacement Parts/Accessories, Water Filtration Machines, De-Scalers and Water Treatment Kits.
